The Faults

Never use the word Blog in the title of your Blog…Word!

Alright you Mothers, The Captain is back again.

I know you have had some blogs in between my last, but lets face it you all come here just to see mine so on we go…

Did some recording as D-dog said, it was great fun in the studio and to be honest I’d be a studio musician all day everyday it is great fun. Hats off also Leigh at Earthworks also who did a great job and got us a demo we can be proud of (maybe not Al, but you can’t always please Big Fucking Trees).

So I’m not going to dwell to much on my miss fortunes but I’ve had massive aids now for over a week. It started as probably one of the worst colds any human has had, bad throat, pounding head and bogies like anything. After a couple of days rest I decided I would return back to work, which was fine I’m a man and I can take it (with the help of Nurofen and Sudafed sinus tablets, which btw are epic). All was going well until Sunday when I was struck down with killer monkey pains in my face, it felt like an Elephant pounding my head from inside and no amount of tablets helped. Turns out my Sinus’s had become infected so I am not on a course of Antibiotics, lame!

Anyway that’s enough personal shit about me.

The last day or so we had asked for your questions through different media outlets (MySpace, twitter etc…) and here are they selected few we chose…

Simon Frane:

Q: Hi guys, thanks for taking the time to do this. I love you guys and I’m a builder and was just wondering what is your favourite hammer?

A: Well mine is the Stanley, big strong and robust. I think Dave’s is the sandwich though.

 Devon314:

Q: What venue in all the world do you hope to play in and which bands will play there with you?

A: Probably Wembley for Al, his supporting band would be Oasis fo sure, with maybe Blur on first? Mine would be Madison Sq Garden supported by hmmm…Really don’t know possibly John Mayer or DMB. Tom would be the Same as Al and Dave would be Finchley carnival supporting by Chaz n Dave.

Alice Cheshire:

Q: I’m quite a large girl, (23 stone) but I love rocking away to your music in my well worn chair. I really think that the Big Tree is a stud, would he like to come over one night?

A: PAH…NO!

Michelle Pallet:

Q: Hi Guys, I just wondered if you ever though about maybe making a cool spin off band? I enjoyed Chav England and also think John Terry is a Cu…

A: Thanks Michelle, funny you should mention it but check out chineseopera.thefaults.co.uk ;-) (Don’t tell Tom I have sent you there though)

Ashley Coles bit on the side:

Q: I have an itchy red rash on my wanny

A: Not surprised.

Right that was about it for questions but the others were pretty lame no offence if yours wasn’t answered but I don’t think, “who is your favourite artist ever” counts as a valid question…BORING!

More rehearsals last night and all this is leading up to our gig tomorrow night (Friday 19.03.2010) at the Barfly in Camden, if you want to come the first person to send us an email with “Men who love mushrooms need much room to love mushroom soup” in the subject title will get a free ticket on the Captain and maybe their first drink on Tommy Fault!?

CHARITY WATCH:

So Sport Relief is coming up and with Eddie Izzard running shit loads of marathons over the course of 7/8 weeks and obviously The Big Tree being the charitable guy he is decided he would also run… up and down his driveway 3 or 4 times. For a massive tree this is no mean feet, especially when he will be attempting to eat a doughnut without licking his lips on each run. Harder than that cross-dressing tranny Izzard I think you’ll agree.

Not too much else to say to be honest, things move fast in life remember that.

Peace x

Blogsville

Well – another day another dollar I guess….hello blog fans…tommy fault here and this is my update

Since I last wrote – last week was cool – ended up having an absolute bender on Saturday night and ended up falling asleep in the corner of the hockey clubhouse whilst my ‘friends’ piled tables and chairs on me but I didn’t retaliate – mainly because I was in a lager induced coma – oh well

Had Monday off as annual leave to help recover from the weekend and watched the blur documentary on bbc 2 – prob not the best thing to watch with a hangover as they seemed to be pissed for 10 years solid – now I have sobered up from the weekends excesses though seems like not such a bad idea now…

I did love the old school way of blur doing things (small sweaty gigs then making it to the top etc) it’s a lost art but one that I want The Faults to be able to copy…we certainly do the small sweaty gigs part…

As for the band, practice last night and tomorrow night ready for the gig on Friday at Barfly in Camden – cannot wait for that – been too long away from the stage…on the side to all of that, reaching out to pretty much every tom dick and harry with our new tunes and just basically trying to get as much attention from anyone as possible!

Just cannot believe how much shite there is to do when wanting to promote the band…so many people to contact etc…that’s why we are on the look out for a manager again – not someone who is going to try and rip us off – maybe even a student with some spare time who fancies managing a band and can help out with the admin – f**k this blog has just taken me 20 minutes!

Right oh, am writing this on the tube home and my stop is coming up – curry a couple of beers, the footy and a game of fifa* with my flatmate are on the cards - lads night in!

Hope you are all well

Much love

Tommy

*used to be pro eveo until our disc broke and got bought a copy of fifa

Laying down fat beats in your mothers face

sup y'all

One of the main things to come from Dav(e)os (mine and Tom's booze fuled band management forum a few weeks ago) was that we should make sure we post regualr blogs to give people a reason to visit the site and and keep in touch with the literally tens of Faults fans subscribed by rss or email.

So far unfortunately this has not happened, this is partly due to lazyness and also having knob all to talk about. So while Brad is busy tweeting his little heart out and Al is working out how to log on to this "internet" he has been hearing so much about I thought I should take it upon myself to, for these few paragraphs at least, be the voice of The Faults!

As some of you already know from the tweets and generally knowing us we managed to get some dosh together to pay for a weekend in a studio (rumours that Brad has been playing hide the sausage with loanly businessmen to raise the capital are as yet unconfirmed). Well that was a few weeks ago now and after various mixing sessions and things we are very happy with the final result. If you fancy a listen, we are a band after all, the songs are on the music player on the homepage of the site and myspace (link also on the homepage). We thought you could download them from myspace so have taken down the songs page from the site but it turns out you can't so when I get round to it I will get a download link back up. In the meantime if anyone would like the mp3s of any of our songs for you to play on your iPod, at trendy nightclubs or to sell down the market then just drop us an email and I will send them your way.

The weekend itself was an allround good and highly productive time. For myself it mostly consisted of playing bass for a couple of hours on Saturday and then dicking about with Brad playing 20 questions and pulling faces at Tom and Al while they tried their best to record vocals for the rest of the weekend. I also took the role of lyric consultant while Al franticly worked to get the words to money finished in time to record that day. I think we can all agree he did a dam good job, although I'm still not entirely sure what the gold one thrown in his face was I'm sure it was very inspired.

As we don't get into the studio all that often I'm going to run out of things to blog pretty soon so I'm thinking I might do a little rundown of some music I like or something like that.

In other Dave news I'm going to see the fantastic Noah and the Whale tomorrow night at the Roundhouse so say hello if you see me there, i'm the sexy bass player (the Faults, not Noah) with the little goatee :)

As always we would love to hear your thoughts on the comments and email so don't be shy. Also big thanks to devon314, if that is your real name, for your review of Money. Check out her blog for that and other music inspired words of American flavoured wisdom here. The Faults have gone state side boiiiii

Hopfully we will be blogging again very soon, I for one want another charity update so keep it The Faults!

Peace and love to the massive
